Obituary for Mr. Danny John Joseph Woods

DANNY WOODS
1965 - 2022

Mr. Danny John Joseph Woods, age 57 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, July 9, 2022 surrounded by the love of his family.

Danny was born on June 5, 1965 in Port Arthur, Ontario and he was the second oldest of five. His early life was very lovingly supported by his ‘Baba’ (Agnes Ostrowski, now deceased) and his Grandpa (John Ostrowski, now deceased) as well as the Graham Family. He attended school in Thunder Bay and following that started work in the construction field as a carpenter, learning the ropes from his uncle Arnold Ostrowski. Danny was known for his talent and incredible hardworking ability. He would often take on projects that others couldn’t do and could always be counted on to do his best. Along with his family, he was well loved by many friends including the 4 legged kind as he devoted many hours rescuing dogs in Northern communities and driving many miles to bring them to safety. Danny was a great lover of music particularly old hard rock and he loved nothing more than playing pool in a local bar listening to his son Kris playing with his band. There are so many acts of kindness Danny did and he would never say no to anyone in need. He would always be the person in the room who would listen to you with his whole heart and show how much he cared. His humble spirit shone through and his desire to always put others first really defined his life. Sports were really important to Danny and growing up he played baseball, football, golf and particularly hockey whether it was boot hockey or ice hockey he loved it all. When it came to watching sports, hockey was his top choice and he continued to be a diehard Montreal Canadians fan over his lifetime. Weightlifting also became a passion for him which he would continue to pursue on and off through his years. Some of Danny’s hobbies included gardening and he built a beautiful greenhouse to start his plants. Over the last few years, Danny really cherished his times together with Barb Maki and their beloved dog Clover.

We lost Danny too soon, the hole in all of our hearts will not easily be filled. He was such an amazing person.

Danny is survived by his ex-wife Marci Hewson; their son Kristopher Woods (Pauline Kedrosky); his daughter Kaila Wanzuk; step-children Daniel Pashe and Kelly Pashe; his mother June (Ostrowski) Graham, stepfather Al Graham, siblings Sherry (Lorne) Bourke, Michelle (Jeff) Gemmell, Christine (George) Schoorlemmer and Malcolm Graham, Bill Woods and Mike Woods. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

He was predeceased by his father, Fred Woods; his special friend Barb Maki and his brother Austin Woods.

Kris would like to thank all of his friends for their love and support over the years. A special thank you as well to the doctors, nurses and staff of TBRHSC for all of the care and comfort provided to Danny and our entire family.
