Obituary for Ms. Robbin Marie Butler

Robbin Marie Butler

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Robbin Marie Butler. She went peacefully in her sleep on March 12 after suffering a massive cerebellum stroke on Jan. 7/2022.

Robbin is survived by her spouse Howard Kellar. Her children Adrian Crawford, Jamie Della-Mattia (Joseph) and Kevin Fostey. Her grand children Forrest and Keenan Borton. Her step-father Sam Frederick. Her sisters, Karrie Butler, Kathy Argenti and Tracy Cazoe. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born Aug. 11 1953 in Chatham, Ont. To parents Robert (Bob) Butler And Zaida Frederick. The eldest of six sisters, her first job was looking out for her younger siblings. This responsibility would become the driving force in her life. She loved to put in a days work. Starting her 1st job picking strawberries with her Aunties as soon as she was able to carry a basket.

She would go on to various waitressing and factory jobs before relocating to Vermilion Bay, Ont where she was able to fulfill her dream of a family business.

Robbins Coffee & Sweetshop opened in 1990 and quickly became a favourite stop for anyone looking for homecooked meals on the road. 4 years later a drop in tourism and poor economy forced her to close the doors of our family business.

There wasn’t much time for tears because Robbins reputation for homestyle cooking, warm hearted, wise cracking waitressing and strong work ethic landed her a job at Drydens Husky Restaurant. She worked there for over 10 years before accepting a position at L.C.B.O. Having been bartender for her family, as well as a long list of bars & taverns this was the perfect job for Robbin. It offered job security and a place for her to engage the public with a joke and a smile.

If she wasn’t hoppin and a boppin at work, you could find Rockin’ Robbin at Bingo with her bestie Lise Sanchez. Or out on a Lake making sure her side of the boat had the most fish.

Thank-you to the many Drs, Nurses and staff at TBRHSC stroke unit and neuro ward as well as those at Dryden Hospital for their exceptional level of care for our Mother and compassion for our family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

We ask that in lieu of flowers or gift baskets, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
