Obituary for Rina Lucy "Gina" ULIANA (Azzalini)

Rina Lucy "Gina" ULIANA (Azzalini)
The Uliana family would like to announce the passing of their beloved mother, Rina (Gina) Lucia on Friday, March 20, 2009.

Gina was born on December 13, 1928 in Osigo, Italy. In 1957, with three young children, she immigrated to Canada to be with her husband, Mario, who had arrived three years earlier.

Gina’s passions included gardening, picking mushrooms, knitting beautiful baby clothes for her grandchildren and many others. She enjoyed old Western movies and Italian music but most of all, a good cup of coffee.

She is survived by Mario her husband of 62 years; children John (Margaret), Sergio, Mauro Louis (Marielle) and Jim (Alison). She is also survived by her sisters Bruna and Nella and a brother Franco. Her grandchildren were her deepest passion. She leaves behind Benjamin, Sandra, Jesse, Justin, Madelaine, Joseph, Nicole and Marcus. They loved her dearly. She also leaves behind an extended family that will miss her dearly. Gina was hoping to see the arrival of her first great-grandchild in May of this year.

Predeceased by her parents; a brother Renato; sisters Lydia and Lina and her cherished son, Mauro.

The Uliana family would like to thank Dr. Scali for his compassion and care of Gina throughout her many years. A heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff of 3B at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, to Dr. Davis and the dedicated nurses of 4 North at St. Joseph’s Hospice. You are all very special people. Thank you to Kathy for her support and comfort during Gina’s final hours.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 23, 2009 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.

Gina regrets leaving behind many dear friends whom she never had the chance to say goodbye to. She had a smile for everyone!
